Why S8 Money was developed

​

For the past 20 years, I tracked my finances in a simple spreadsheet. While spreadsheets are the most versatile, I wanted something easier to use—a dedicated web app that would align with my values and needs.

S8 Money was created to reflect these principles. If these principles resonate with you, you should try the software.

 

Privacy First

I believe my financial data should stay with me or my financial institution, so S8 Money keeps your data on your device only. This does mean we are unable to use integrators to connect to financial institutions and automatically retrieve your financial data.

Focus on Tracking

I prioritize tracking, not budgeting, so S8 Money was designed for tracking your income and expenses simply and effectively. Budgeting features may be added in the future.

Market Data

As a straightforward investor, I primarily invest in stocks, ETFs and mutual funds. S8 Money focuses on such equity investments with market data for US and Canadian stocks and ETFs.

Multi-Currency Support

Managing finances in multiple currencies is essential for me, and S8 Money offers built-in support for that.

Easy Data Portability

Even software with a large user base that has been around for years offers no guarantee of continuity and this is a new software. S8 Money understands hesitation users may have using it and therefore allows easy exports to Excel or other data formats.

Fair Pricing

I prefer software that lets you pay after using it or after a meaningfully long trial, so S8 Money offers a post-paid “Pay If You Can” model with no automatic renewals or saved card info.
